I had a brainstorm coming on and knew I had to sit down and write out my thoughts before they slipped my mind. But as I sat down on our front porch I got distracted by a beautiful scene. Across our yard spiderwebs criss-crossed shining golden-orange, colored by the setting sun. As I looked up higher I saw bugs flying around, but with that gorgeous sun shinning on them, they looked more like gold dust darting in the air. I thought about trying to describe the scene and how no words could really give the exact picture of what I was admiring.
Then my thoughts drifted to what life would be like without sight. Not only would I not be able to see beauty in creation, but I wouldn’t be able to read, see if I look presentable before leaving the house, or fully understand all conversations, as I’d be missing out on any hand gestures or facial expressions. I wouldn’t be able to drive or do many of the activities that I enjoy.
So today, I’m thankul for my sight!
Side note: All this made me think of one of my and my daughter’s favorite movies: Wait Until Dark starring Audrey Hepburn. While I hope to never loose my sight, if I do, I hope I’m as clever and brave as Audrey Hepburn’s character!
