We were in Goodwill (my favorite place to shop) and my daughter walked up to me, handed me a book and said, “You should get this.”
Now, I don’t often get books from Goodwill…I’m too busy sorting through the racks looking for a cute dress to give the book seciton much attention.
But then I read the title The Book of Myself – A Do-it-Yourself Autobiography in 201 Questions…and this was right after I had determined to write more…how appropriate!

For $1.99 I got it and have been writing a page almost everyday since. I enjoy my evening ritual of sitting on the couch and writting down something about my life.
The book is broken up into 3 sections: early years, middle years, and later years. There’s one prompt per page. The prompt might be someting about a parent, religion, pet, or your memories of WWI or WWII….I took the liberty to switch that to September 11…something I was actually alive for.
I’m not writing in any order (except I haven’t written in the later years section yet…as I’m still waiting for those years to come). I love how it doesn’t take much time, and I can pick a subject I feel like writing about on any particular day.
I think this would be a blast to have parents and grandparents fill out and be able to read their stories!

Have you ever done anything like this?
