Saturated

I’ve never done a “word for the year” thing, but there’s been a word swishing around my head.

Saturated

The premise of the book The Well-Watered Woman was about keeping yourself watered with the Word of God. Maybe that’s what put the idea in my head, but I keep coming back to the concept that I need to be immersed and saturated in the truth. I need to drink deeply of what God has said and who He is.

What if this year I saturated my mind with God’s Word?

What if I ran to scrolling Pinterest a little less, and reading God’s Word a little more?

What if I spent a little less time following the news and a little more time refelecting on all the good gifts God’s given me?

What if I saturated myself in God’s Word and was drenched in His truths?

When our road was saturated in rainy season!

Do you choose a word for the year? If so, what is it?

  1. I don’t usually choose a word for the year, but I was struck with my need to LISTEN. I put James 1:19 on my phone, “Be quick to LISTEN, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” Sometimes I am more mindful and doing better, other times not so much.

  2. This is wonderfully intentional. It made me think of “There Shall Be Showers of Blessing” – I haven’t heard that song in years, but it instantly came to mind. I often find myself thinking: Come quickly. But then also, in the meantime/while we wait expectantly, shower us with love and grace.

    There shall be showers of blessing:
      This is the promise of love;
    There shall be seasons refreshing,
      Sent from the Savior above.

    Showers of blessing,
      Showers of blessing we need;
    Mercy-drops round us are falling,
        But for the showers we plead.

    There shall be showers of blessing—
      Precious reviving again;
    Over the hills and the valleys,
      Sound of abundance of rain.

    There shall be showers of blessing;
      Send them upon us, O Lord!
    Grant to us now a refreshing;
      Come, and now honor Thy Word.

    There shall be showers of blessing;
      O that today they might fall,
    Now as to God we’re confessing,
      Now as on Jesus we call!

    There shall be showers of blessing,
      If we but trust and obey;
    There shall be seasons refreshing,
      If we let God have His way.
