I believe every book we as believers read, must be compared to the truths of Scripture. Any book I recommend does not necessarily mean I agree with 100% of it. All reading we do, should be done with the Bible truths in the forefront of our minds.
Surviving Religion 101 – Letters to a Christian Student on Keeping the Faith in College
By Michael J. Kruger
I downloaded this ebook simply because it was free, but after having finished it, I highly recomend it! It’s a collection of letters a father wrote to his daughter as she prepared to go to college. If you’ve ever questioned evidence for a God, the reliability of the Bible, how to know if the Bible is trustworthy or any similar thoughts, this is a great resource! Even though I grew up in church and attened 2 years of Bible school, I still learned new things from this book.
I Second That Emotion – Untangling Our Zany Feelings
by Patsy Clairmont
As I strolled through our little local library, I noticed this book and thought it wouldn’t hurt to pick it up. It’s kinda fun to pick up interesting looking books I know nothing about and try reading them. If I find they’re not interesting to me, I can just stop reading it and return it, no harm done. But I’ve also found good books this way. Once I randomly found a book that greatly impacted my homeschooling (I Read it, but I Don’t Get It by Cris Tavoni), but anyways…back to THIS book!
The author was an agoraphobic (which I learned means she had a fear of open spaces). I enjoyed this book. Somehow I missed that the back of the book had thoughts and questions to work through with the chapters. Once I got to the second half, I started reading through the questions. It also has videos to watch with it, but I skipped that part. As I began reading through the worksheets, I was more just reading fast so I could say I finished the book, but then I realized it had good thoughts and some of the questions would actually be good for me to consider and ponder.
I Give Up – The Secret Joy of a Surrendered Life
By Laura Story
While at my favorite consignment store, this book grabbed my attention because of the author. Have you ever heard the song “Blessings”? Well, this book was written by that singer/song writer. For only $3 I thought it might be worth the read.
What I enjoyed most in the book are the parts where she shared about her life. She and her family have faced some hard things, and it’s neat to see how God sustained them and walked though those trials with them.

What have you read this month?
