A Practical Walk

“And even though you were dead in your transgressions and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, he nevertheless made you alive with him, having forgiven all your transgressions. He has destroyed what was against us, a certificate of indebtedness expressed in decrees opposed to us. He has taken it away by nailing it to the cross.” Colossians 2:13-14 NET

Have you ever been in big debt to someone? Then they tell you, you don’t have to pay them back in full, just to pay a portion of it and they’ll call it good.

Or maybe you’ve been the one loaning the money. Sometimes with our kids, we’ll help them buy something they want, saying we’ll pay for half of it and they need to cover the other half.

Christ paid our debt in full. He doesn’t cover 99% of my sins and I’m responsible for somehow making up the last 1%. He paid for it IN FULL! He DESTROYED that debt certificate! If I go to Him trying to pay a little bit of it, well there’s nothing left to be paid!

It’s pretty humbling when you think about it. The One who had no sin, paid my sin debt fully.
