Frugal Five

Work on the garden continues, but it’s just little things here and there. My daughter shredded some papers for us, so we put those in the compost bin. I transplanted some more things. Unfortunately only one eggplant sprout made it, and after transplanting it, I don’t think it’s going to make it either.

Good news is that we’ve had quite bit of rain, so I haven’t had to water much this week.

Free dog house. Our neighbor saw that we have a new dog and asked if we wanted their old dog house they no longer need and were going to get rid of. It’s one of those igloo shaped kinds. My husband looked it up, they’re about $200 usually. It does have a missing part we’d like to replace. It looks nicer than the make-shift house we had for him.

Shopped strategically, but I won’t repeat myself, you can read it here.

I packed lunch. One day this week, we spent in the larger town, so I took our lunch with us. Before I talk about our lunch, I have to tell you the craziest thing that happened! One of the reasons we were going that day was because I was changing doctors and had an appointment with my new doctor, who I’d never met before. I get in there and find out she lived 8 years in West Africa…in the same country that we most recently lived in….in the same area! There were people we both knew! It was so crazy, and so encouraging at the same time! I still can’t believe it!

Okay…back to lunch. I packed us some pepperoni pasta salad, chips, veggie sticks, coffee, water and juice pouches (they were on clearance for 10 cents each). Our lunch was cheaper and healthier than most fast food, so I call it a win.

Got some free moisturizer. Back in the day, I used to sign up for all kinds of freebies. Now I rarely do, but when I saw a Cerave freebie I decided to get it as that’s one of the brands my dermatologist recommended. I know that often these little free samples come with a coupon, and sure enough it did!
