Frugal Five

We found 3 pennies on our walk today. I have jar I’m keeping all the coins I find in.

My husband bought some work shoes off ebay. Remember when I told you about my success with buying sneakers off ebay? It’s a very similar story. The shoes on the right he got a while back from ebay, and now he’s replacing them with the ones on the left, also from ebay.

Both our new and old pairs of ebay shoes!

We’ve been eating cherry tomatoes from the garden. They’re very small, but very delicious! I’m also still using careless weeds occasionally in eggs.

We saved $50 on a Taekwondo uniform. The place my son is taking lessons sells them for $50, but they said they had some used ones people donated that he could look through. He found one his size. We might still purchase one later on, but for now this one will do just fine.

We did not buy a new fridge. This morning when I went to get ice from the freezer, it was still liquid…not good, it should’ve frozen overnight. Something was wrong, I thought we might need to get a replacement. Thankfully my handy-dandy husband got it fixed. Apparently the fan had frozen over so it couldn’t turn anymore. Yay for not having to purchase a fridge right now!

  1. Wow, these are awesome! Sports uniforms can really add up and so getting one for free is both great fiscally AND better for the environment (I see jerseys at thrift stores regularly; too often they get purchased, worn, and dumped).

It’s so handy to be able to find replacements for shoes you know are good quality on eBay. (I’ve still never purchased a single thing on eBay in my life; for some reason I find it daunting.)

I love cherry tomatoes. Yum. So delicious.

But the biggest win is definitely not needing a new fridge. Appliances are PRICY. That’s wonderful your husband is handy. Unfortunately, my husband and I are NOT, but our home is from the 1970s and it came with older appliances which have lasted so well!

    1. Yes, our fridge is actually an older one, I don’t know the year. Things aren’t built to last as long anymore.
