Well hello there! I haven’t posted in a while. I’m naming September the month of family fun! We had my parents visit and loved the time with them! Then we had a family camping trip with most of my husband’s side of the family (not all could make it), and after that, we got to spend some time with one of his sisters, her husband and kids.

I love camping and here’s what I like:
- Looking up through trees to see the night sky and sparkling stars. One night we watched a distant lightning storm.
- Smelling pine needles
- Watching the dancing flames of a campfire.
- Waking up to hearing my husband making coffee (at home I usually get the coffee ready the night before, but on camping trips he tends to be up and making coffee before me).
- Hearing birds
- Swimming
- Hikes
- Sitting and sipping coffee slowly in nature
- Beautiful bugs, flowers, trees, and cute fuzzy animals.
- Spending less time on electronics (I left my computer home and greatly reduced my phone use while camping).
- Being with family without other distractions.

We stayed at Robber’s Cave State Park in Oklahoma. I have one, and only one complaint. The bathroom for the loop we were camping on was closed the entire time we were there. We had to walk or drive to a further bathroom. Also, I will say, the bathrooms weren’t fancy….they were camping bathrooms, so if you go there, don’t expect 5 star bathrooms.

Okay, other than that, I have lots I loved about this campground:
- Beautiful!
- The hiking trails! I only went on two, but they were some of my favorite parts of the trip.
- Swimming. The swimming spot was really nice. The ground was sandy, not rocky or sludgy, but nice sand. We also had the swimming spot almost completely to ourselves, which maybe due to the time of year. One of the benefits of all of us homeschooling our kids was that it made it possible to do this trip in September.
- There’s a nature center where they have tanks of fish, stuffed animals and a lady with a corn snake on her head…I did touch the snake, but declined to hold it.
- There were multiple picnicing spots.
- Some of the guys in our group enjoyed the frisbee golf course. Others went fishing.
- We got camping spots close to each other which worked out great since we wanted to spend as much time together as we could.
- My in-laws stayed in one of their cabins, which were very nice!
- There was at least one playground, and the younger cousins loved it!

You can go into the robber’s cave, which was really cool!
All that to say, I’d stay there again. It worked great for our family get together! I’d maybe try to get a spot closer to a working bathroom next time though.

Rainbow above their cabin.
Do you enjoy camping? What do you love about it?
