2026 Theme

People are important.

That simple sentence keeps ringing in my ears.

When I look back at my life, I don’t regret the times I spent with people.

I do however, have times I regret that I didn’t spend with people.

Recently I was reading What Does God Want? and the last chapter, particularly talking about loving others, reminded me that this is what really matters.

2025 was heavily focused on our family, which was important and needed as we navigated a big transition. I’m thankful for the time to dedicate to my kids, after all, I am the only mom they’ve got.

I feel like we’ve waded through the waters of change, and are now on the shores of stability. It feels like it’s time to start looking around and seeing who, outside of my family, I can help.

How is this going to look? I don’t have an exact plan, but I want my decisions to be fueled by the importance of people. Maybe it’ll be making phone calls, taking trips, volunteering for a ministry, closing my computer when my teen wants to talk to me, or babysitting for a neighbor. The thing with people is, you never know when an opportunity might arise. I can’t just throw them on a schedule (although a schedule might ensure they don’t get missed). Sometimes making people important is stepping up when it wasn’t planned. So, as I walk into 2026, I want to keep saturating myself with the Word of God and keep people’s importance as fuel for my decision making.

Do you have a word, theme, or focus for 2026?
