February Recap

Read January’s recap here.

Just like February, January held some unexpected twists: some difficult and some good.

Lowlights

  • Last month my grandpa passed, and this month my husband’s grandpa passed. The memorial and burial will be this week.
  • Headaches…I’ve had multiple migraines this month. I’m recording when they happen, what I took for them and various things in the 24 hours leading up to them (amount of sleep, stress level, sun exposure, etc…)to see if I can spot a common denominator.
  • My ebay sales were insanely low this month. I think one reason was because I stopped doing promotions as ebay recently changed their promotion policy. So after a while of that, I started putting promotions back on and I’ve made a couple sales since.

Highlights

  • Our son turned 17!!! Now for a few months we have two 17 year olds in the house! On his actual birthday we had smash burgers (his very favorite) and fries, with his Grandparents here to help celebrate. Then a few days later we had some friends over for cake and smores. This was the motivation we needed to finally get some back yard work done including a fire pit and hanging lights.
  • Our son has started working with my husband more consistently. This will not only help the business, but also give him an opportunity to earn more money.
  • My daughter got hired at fast food place. I’m so thankful that it’s really close, and she’s been learning the ropes quickly. This has been not only an adjustment in her schedule, but in the whole family’s . Since our kids have had time on their hands, we’ve depended on them to help keep the household running smoothly. They do all the dishes, my daughter sometimes made dinner, and she was in charge of cleaning 2 of the rooms in the house. Now that they’re both away from home more, I’m picking up the slack in these areas. Which is totally fine, it’s just been bumpy figuring out our new routine.
  • I ran a 5k. It had been scheduled for January, but due to the winter storm, got moved twice. For curious folks, my time was 38:41.9. Yes, I incorporated walking, but just finishing and not feeling awful afterwards is a victory in my book!

  • My husband’s sister, brother-in-law and 4 kids visited the area. It was a shorter visit than last time, but we were still able to get some good talks, games, and meals in.
  • We’re building another shed in our back yard. My husband crunched the numbers and said the cost of building the shed is equal to two years of storage unit rental. Plus his tools and supplies will be closer and easier to get to.
  • I started some pepper, eggplant, and tomato seeds! We’ll see how they do. I’m hoping for a bigger and better garden this year.
