Homeschool Update

I did it! I got both the kids’ school portfolios mailed off to NARHS! This was both my first time doing 2 high schoolers and my first time mailing the physical portfolio instead of an electronic one.

I’ve done the electronic one previously because we were overseas, so it worked much better in that situation. However, now that I’ve done this kind, I much prefer it to scanning everything!

Now I wait…to see if everything gets approved, I always get a little nervous. I’ve done this 2 years before and only had one minor issue that we got sorted out, so it’ll probably be fine. But I always feel a sense of relief when the credits get approved!

Speaking of homeschooling….a few weeks back we had our end of the school year celebration that we always do. Normally it’s just our family of 4, but this year 2 of the grandparents got to attend! I shared where I saw each student shining and what subjects they completed. Then we always have a special treat. In West Africa it was usually no-bake cookies, here we like to do root beer floats. 🙂

Any of you homeschoolers have an end of year tradition?

  1. Hi – I have homeschooled one son once for a semester and this past spring for part of his schoolwork. He took 2 classes at the high school. We generally limp into the end of the school year, so I promised him we could go to the trampoline park once we he finished ( he had two summer school classes to do as well). His siblings got to go too, so even the ones going to regular school got in on the fun. ( My one kid goes to our parochial elementary, my daughter with special needs goes to junior high, and my other son at home thrives at the public high school.)
I do not have to submit anything for homeschooling ( my state has no requirements- which helps me as I’m sort of free-wheeling in deciding what he’ll cover), but I do type up a nice syllabus and summary to submit to the school district to get him credit. I really want him back in hs so he can officially graduate ( for a couple of reasons) but it doesn’t work for him
