Frugal Five Plus a Flop

I went to Walmart while waiting for my son to finish his Taekwondo session, and got multiple clearance items! Although in retrospect I realize I went overboard on the bagels…I now have rancid bagels in my cupboard.

Gotta keep your eyes peeled for those yellow stickers!

I’ve started planting for my garden!!! Hoping for a bigger and better harvest this year.

And going along with the garden…I did a lot of watering today, but some of that water was leftover rice-rinse water. I know our water bill is gonna go up with the garden, but I can still do what I can to keep it moderate. I’m always so inspired by Brandy’s beautiful garden and how she’s careful to reuse water in her garden.

My garden-extraordinaire sis-in-law gave me a heating mat at Christmas for starting seeds.

I’ve been continuing to find lots of coins! Look how many I found on one run the other day:

My husband had some work in another town….and said town has a Goodwill, so I hitched a ride with him. He dropped me off at Goodwill where we made a donation and got our 20% off one item coupon. I found multiple things to resell and a couple of items for myself, including a pair of Lee jeans. I used the coupon on the jeans.

I also have a frugal fail. While at Goodwill, I accidently broke a sugar dish. It was one I was considering buying to resell. I had it in the seat part of the cart, and while I was trying to get something out of the cart, knocked it through the leg-hole. I broke it, I bought it….then threw it away.

Are you gardening this year? What are you most excited about growing?

  1. I bought discounted buns at Walmart the other day… with a similar yellow sticker. I tossed it in the freezer because I want it next week to serve to make pulled pork sandwiches!

Love, love, love finding discounts like that. But totally have had similar experiences with overbuying and then things going bad 😦

  2. Ya’ll are so much better than me. I’m pseudo spring cleaning. Decided to wash all bedding, but to change it up I put it back on different beds. Makes the rooms look different anyway. Planned to take daughter #2 to lunch for her birthday. Gdaughter got sick. So her sisters and I went to lunch but took her a dessert. Stopped at thrift and bought 4 tops for 90% off and a pair of capris. Total less than 6.00. Not my most frugal day but I loved being with two of my girls and the weather is in the 60’s today-absolute perfection.
