I believe every book we as believers read, must be compared to the truths of Scripture. Any book I recommend does not necessarily mean I agree with 100% of it. All reading we do, should be done with the Bible truths in the forefront of our minds.
I feel so accomplished when I have at least two books to report by the end of the month! Even though both of these I’ve been reading for a long time, I finally finished them.
Divorce and Remarriage in the Church – Biblical Solutions for Pastoral Realities
By David Instone-Brewer
I had some opinions on divorce and remarriage, but in all honesty hadn’t really studied it out. But as I’ve had friends with serious marriage problems, and just been around a whole lot more divorce and remarriage in the church, my opinions weakened. This book was fascinating, talking about some things I’d never heard before (like “any cause” divorces). I feel like I need to re-read the book and think about it more, but it sure gave me some insights into what the Bible actually does (and doesn’t) say about divorce.
Complete Book of Women’s Running – The Best Advice to Get Started, Stay Motivated, Lose Weight, Run Injury-Free, Be Safe, and Train for Any Distance
By Dagny Scott
I borrowed this from the local library, then went on to renew it a couple times, as it took me awhile to read through. Not because I didn’t enjoy it mind you, I just went through it slowly because I’d just read a few pages before bed at night. It was super motivating to be reading this book while at the same time prepping for and running a 5k. The author has done plenty of running herself and coupled with being a fantastic writer, made this a great read!
My favorite part of the book was the “Training Log” sections scattered throughout, where the author would tell a personal story pertaining to what she was discussing in that chapter. I looked forward to these, and would usually save them until I finished the chapter, kinda like dessert at the end of a meal.
I highly recommend this book if you run or want to start running. I have already been able to implement things I’ve learned.

What did you read this month? Any you’d recommend?
