I made lentil potato fritters, using this recipe as a guideline. It was a smashing success! This cheap meal will appear again on our menu. I mean, when the main ingredients are lentils and potatoes, that’s so cheap and healthy!! (We won’t mention the fact that they’re fried). I made a raising cane sauce instead of the siracha one the recipe recommends. They tasted great dipped in the sauce, but also were good in a sandwich.
In gardening news, I’ve been inspired by the book All New Square Foot Gardening from the library. My husband made me 2 square beds (pictured in the back ground of the photo). The author, Mel Bartholomew, argues that this method of gardening is less wasteful.

My son was going to mow the lawn, so I picked flowers before he mowed over them to enjoy in the house. The vase my daughter picked up at the $5 a bag garage sale.

Nature=Free decorations!
For our Teen Tuesday, we had a picnic at the park and then played frisbee golf. American parks are an amazing way to have some free fun! It was one of the things we really missed when living overseas.
Yesterday my husband worked out of town, so I packed him a lunch. This saves money and is much healthier for him!
What have you done this week to keep some money in your pocket?
