Frugal Five – Fresh Herbs

Not so frugal: I accidentally clicked the get Amazon Prime button, thinking it was just the pay button. Even though it was my fault for clicking so quickly, I do wish they’d have a second pop up that asked if you were sure you wanted Prime. Anyways…I canceled the membership, but it’s already paid for one month. So since we have the month paid for anyways, we’re making some purchases with the free shipping it includes. I really prefer buying off ebay rather than Amazon when I can.

I used some basil and oregano form the garden in potatoes today. I also put a bunch of green onions into a ranch dip, and I refrigerated some mint in a jar of water for a refreshing drink for tomorrow. I’m using fresh herbs so much more now that they’re just right in my back yard!

When watering the garden, I started with the 2 buckets that caught rain water before using the hose.

My husband made some purchases at Goodwill today. One was a spike ball set that’ll be fun for a Teen Tuesday. He also got an item for me to resell, and a few items that he’ll use for work.

I sorted through a kitchen drawer and cupboard that hold my plastic containers and large bowls. The annoyance of trying to Tetras all the containers in there so they’d fit, won over the convenience of owning so many. I’m passing 2 items on to my mother-in-law who will use them.

Do you use Amazon Prime? Do you find it’s worth it?

  1. Amazon Prime is wonderful. I live in a town in a very rural area- there’s not a lot of comparison shopping, unusual sizes, or specialty parts around here. My husband can get car parts, computer stuff, textbooks…. I can order my kids clothes that fit without dragging them all over. I can find shoes that fit ! I’ve bought extra used copies of my textbook for under$10 so I can loan them to students for the semester.

We don’t use the streaming service as much as we used to, but there are some digital books and music you can use for free with prime. I also like how I can order stuff for other people and have it shipped to them. The wish lists are nice too.

I know people talk about Amazon being evil, but honestly, it provides a good service.
