I’m very aware that it’s June13 and I’m finally getting this posted, better late than never!
If I had to pick one word to describe May, I’d pick “full.” We had a birthday, graduation, trip, wrapping up school and been doing lots in the garden!
Lowlights
The bad news is we had hail, the good news is my husband braved it and ran out to cover as much as possible and we didn’t loose a single plant!! Everything had battered leaves, but they made it. Some onion tops were falling over afterwards, so I went ahead and picked those, even though they were a little on the small side.

Highlights
Our oldest graduated! I wasn’t sure if I should put this under highlight or lowlight. It’s hard thinking that she’s growing up, but at the same time, that’s what she’s supposed to be doing. We had a lovely little grad party with 3 other homeschool seniors. We had cake, snacks, showed a PowerPoint of each one and prayed for them. I’m so grateful for our little band of homeschoolers.
I’m also delighted to say that both the kids’ NARHS portfolios are sent off (although one got sent in June, not May). I feel a little sigh of relief, but will feel a true sigh of relief when they get approved. I’ve sent in 4 portforlios before and only remember an issue once, which we were able to get fixed, so there shouldn’t be any problems, but it’ll be nice once it’s all official. This portfolio assembling was the easiest yet. When we lived overseas I scanned everything and did it electronically. I’ve also gotten better at keeping it filed throughout the year.
Before we finished school, we took a family field trip/camping trip to San Antonio. You can read about the campsite here, and the places we visited (mostly free) here. San Antonio sure is a cool place!

San Antonio Riverwalk
Another highlight has been the garden. We’re enjoying onions, lettuce, yellow squash, zucchini and herbs! Can’t wait for more veggies and even some fruit!
