A Practical Walk

I needed to buy groceries, so my daughter and I made a day of it. Our first stop was the discount bargain store, then a local thrift shop where I bought 1 item for reselling. Next we headed to Goodwill where I donated some clutter, got my donation coupon and then did some shopping. I found 2 item for reselling, and a Mexican-style blanket to try on our couch. My daughter also found some items for herself. Then we met up with my mother-in-law who was driving back from visiting her mom and enjoyed a delicious Chinese buffet. This was the least frugal part of the day, but we sure enjoyed the food and sitting and catching up on everything. Then the last stope was Wal-Mart for groceries and gas.

The garden is producing more! Yesterday I enjoyed a cucumber sandwich with a cucumber from the garden. I also made a Senegalese meal and one of the toppings was a sauce made from bissap leaves (roselle hibiscus) and okra. Growing these means I can cook them, since I can’t buy fresh bissap leaves in the grocery store. I’ve also been getting lettuce, but it’s pretty bitter, I think it’s due to the heat.

I’ve spotted a house downtown that sometimes has a jar of sun tea out and it’s inspired me. I just love making tea without using my stove top! I also threw some of my mint in there. Perfect beverage for this excessive heat, no heating the kitchen with the stove, and harnessing the sun’s heat instead! I mean if the sun is going to put out it’s ardent heat, lets use it to the maximum!

I have a cute dress that I loved. It was comfy, casual and easy to wear. Then I got a hole in it. I tried to stitch it up, but because it wasn’t on a seam, and I’m no seamstress, now you just see the stitch spot….in a rather unwanted area. So today I cut the bottom of the dress off and made it into a t-shirt! I didn’t even hem it, just cut it and am wearing it right at this moment. 🙂

I got 3 items listed on ebay today, which is nice, as I’ve been busy and posting new listings has taken a back seat.
