Frugal Four – A Sandwich from History

My husband decided on another sandwich from Sandwiches of History for his birthday. Last year we did one that had coleslaw and cooked greens and it was a hit! This year he chose this tomato sandwich from Sandwiches of History. Unfortunately we don’t have big tomatoes ready in the garden yet. And also unfortunately I just now got around to planting those free dill seeds I got. So both of those ingredients I had to buy at the store….but I do have plenty of basil growing! So that I didn’t have to go buy! These sandwiches were top notch! In fact, I made them again for breakfast the next morning they were that good!

In an attempt to decrease caffeine consumption, I’m making coffee with 2 scoops instead of the previous 3. Even though this is for caffeine-reduction reasons, it has the added benefit of making our coffee last longer. I’ve been surpised at the price of even off-brand coffees lately.

I purchased 3 items from Restore. Two of them were books for $1 each and also a basket for $3. I’m using it while working in the garden to carry around gloves, clippers, and any produce I harvest.

What I’m getting the most from the garden right now is okra! I made fried okra one day and another day I made this oven roasted okra (I put more seasonings than the recipe called for). I plan to make this again! It’s less work than breading and frying, and it’s healthier!
