Hello! It’s been over a week since I’ve posted, but that’s because we went on a camping trip with some of my family! I love camping and camping with family makes it even more enjoyable!
My parents, my sister’s family, and us all met at a beautiful lakeside campground in Tennessee, but today’s post isn’t a review of that. It’s a review of a site we stopped at on the way to break up the drive: Maumelle, Arkansas close to Little Rock.
First of all, I’ll warn you. I got a little confused and put the lock and dam into the GPS, but that’s not where the campsites are. So be forewarned. We were at the campsite on Pinnacle Valley Road.
The place was beautiful with tall towering trees. Our site had water right there, and electricity. We had a picnic table and fire ring.

If I stayed there again I’d pick a different site….one of the lakeside ones.
Like this peaceful, riverside spot.
A cool feature that I’d never seen before was their medical sites.
The bathrooms were fine. I feel like after using Government Canyon’s bathrooms, I’m hard to impress. My biggest complaint is that they didn’t have any hand soap in the restrooms. That would be an easy fix.
Right before the trip I purchased a bike and we ended up taking it with us. I loved riding around the campsite that evening.
We got to see a barge going down (up?) the river. It brought back childhood memories of the year I lived on the Paraguay River.
Look at the fairy ring! It wasn’t a completely closed circle, but closer than I’ve ever seen.
Pros:
- Sites (at least some) had water and electricity.
- There was a wash house with bathrooms and showers
- Beautiful spot on the river
- Trees provided shade, but their branches were high up ,so it didn’t block too much of our view.
- Sites weren’t squished together, but had some space between them (at least our spot).
- We had an issue with our van the morning we left. Both our camping neighbor and one of the host couples came over to see if they could help, so I’d give them gold stars for helpfulness.
- Beautiful riverside views!
Cons:
- Bathroom didn’t have soap.
In summary, I’d totally stay there again if we were passing through and had our tent with us. I don’t know if we ever will, as we don’t usually travel that direction, but you never know!
