Frugal Five – Gardening with the Heat

After finishing a Shutterfly book, I checked to see if there were any discounts and sure enough there was a free shipping code! So you can bet your bottom dollar I got free shipping! I’ve always felt like Shutterfly was pretty expensive, so I always try to get some sort of discount.

I sold an under the bed storage tub on facebook for $10. I never really know what’s gonna sell quickly there and what won’t. Since we live in a small town, the pool of possible buyers is slim, but it never hurts to try.

I took a family member to a doctor’s appointment, so while in town we also went to the discount food store, Goodwill, another thrift store, Walmart, and stopped at Wendy’s for lunch….okay that last part wasn’t frugal.

A lot of my plants are looking a little sad, I think it’s the heat. But we’ve been getting cantaloupes and watermelon, they don’t seem bothered by the toasty air. Today my husband made some refreshing agua fresca with watermelon.

I started some new plants for a fall garden: okra, zucchini, cucumbers and dill. We’ll see how they do. One of the many benefits of living in a warm climate is getting 2 seasons of produce.

What frugalness have you been up to this week?
