Frugal Three Plus a Fee

I spent a big chunk of my day yesterday snapping photos of my husband’s work receipts for quick books. A bonus of this is that I also snapped a bunch of them for fetch rewards and that helped bump my points up to 6500, which means enough for a $5 amazon gift card! I have a baby shower coming up, so I’ll probably use that gift card towards the baby gift. While I don’t earn much with fetch rewards, it’s still worth it to me because of how easy it is.*

I switched the timer on the drip irrigation to “rain” mode, this skips the next watering. We had a wonderful down pour! And on top of that my husband put in a gutter on the shed with a spout to a barrel for water collection. Plus he’s been digging low spots where he has plants, so that the water from rain collects there. I ought to get some pictures for a future post.

I bought a used book off ebay. It was $6 cheaper than buying from Amazon.

Not so frugal: I have an overdue library book…haven’t even read a page of it! Oops.

What about you? What have you done to save a little?

*If you’re interested in using Fetch Rewards, you can sign up through my referral link and if I’ll receive bonus points.

Bruno doesn’t care about my frugal shenanigans, as long as we go on walks and he gets food, he’s happy.

  1. Oh, that’s a good reminder about the rain setting on the irrigation system. I have been as frugal as I dare lately, but I am about to have to pay for a new front door, I fear…

    1. Doors can be expensive! My husband has sometimes found good prices on doors at Habitat Restore, but you never know if they’re gonna have the right size or not.

I spent quite a bit more at the grocery this week than usual. BUT, they had terrific deals on items we use frequently (and there’s always at least 5 people in our house, sometimes more…). So, in the long run, I’m definitely saving money. The best find was the canisters of Folgers coffee that my mom likes (she lives with us). They were on clearance for $7.20. I had a digital coupon for $4.00 off, making them $3.20 each. I got 10. My mom should be set for a year!
