When September crept up, I thought about how summer was coming to an end, and not really ready for it. Then before I got myself geared up for summer ending, September was already over. I may not feel mentally prepared for fall, but fall doesn’t wait for me to be prepared, it just comes. We started seeing some cooler weather, and just like the temperature has it’s highs and lows, so has this past month.
Lowlights
Between garden club, agreeing to more responsibilities at church, our kids’ schedules, regular household chores, and everything else, life’s been a little busy. I prefer some breathing room in my schedule and I sometimes struggle to know which things to say no to and which things to let slide when there’s too much to do.
In line with being busy, I’m struggling with my kids becoming adults. I think the main cause of this is my daughter’s schedule. When she decided to stay living at home and attend a local college, I thought, “Oh good! We can put off her moving away! Things will be almost like they were last year, I just won’t be the one overseeing her schoolwork!” Well, she got a new job, and now between school, her job, and art club, I feel like I rarely see her. I know this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, I think I’m just missing her and it’s making it hit me even harder that my kids aren’t little anymore and we’re entering a new season of life….and just like the fall season has come even when I wasn’t I’m mentally prepared for it, my kids are growing up whether I’m ready or not.
Highlights
I don’t know if I should put ebay under lowlight or highlight, but I did make a small profit again this month. My best sale was chambers stove feet, which were up for less than a month and brought in a net profit of $62.35.
Homeschooling has gone fantastic so far this year, although it sure is strange only schooling one kid, and on top of that he doesn’t need much from me. I’m thankful for how he’s progressing in his subjects, and is even ahead in a few of them.
Our involvement in church continues to increase. We’re helping with the youth group, which has come with some challenges, but my favorite part so far has been getting to know these teen girls.
My daughter had her first table at a local market! She sold some of her artwork and did 3 on the spot portraits! I love seeing her able to make some money off of something that she absolutely loves!

The same weekend that my daughter had the market, my son went to a Taekwondo campout. My husband went with him and made sure he had meals ready between their exercises. Both of our kids could have probably done these activities without us, but it was the first time for each and it was just so nice for us to be able to each accompany one of our kids. I’m truly thankful for the privilege of being a co-parent and being able to share the responsibility when you can’t be in two places at once.

I officially joined the garden club this month! Hoping to gain some good friends and learn from those who have garden in this region for years.

So there you have my highs and lows and the changes in this season (both literally and figurative season changes).
How was your September? Did it seem to fly by for you too?
