Lately I’ve been more intentional and specific in praying for wisdom. And it’s been neat to see God graciously give it. When I run across a dilemma (which I seem to do frequently). I try to remember to stop and pray specifically for wisdom about what to do in the situation.
Recently I was asked to do something that I didn’t really want to do, but didn’t feel like my reasons for wanting to say no were very legitimate. I prayed specifically for a clear answer. Then a little while later I got a message that someone else agreed to it, soI wasn’t needed. There was a clear answer for me!
An area I’ve needed wisdom is parenting. Every phase of parenting has it’s new things to learn how to deal with. Right now we’re figuring out how much to let the kids “adult” themselves and how much we, as their parents, still need to be a part. I’ve also found the last month rather melancholy. I guess it’s just really hit me that my kids are growing up, and I don’t know if I’m ready for an empty nest. Or even if they still live in the nest, but are mostly gone doing their own things all the time.
I digress….this wasn’t supposed to be a sad parenting post…it was supposed to be about God’s wisdom.
I recently finished reading the Biblical book of Proverbs and about Solomon. Sure he was wise, but it wasn’t his own wisdom. God was the one who gave it to him. And that same God can give me wisdom today. I leave you with some practical advice from James:
